Remi Tinubu Explains Why She Shunned Senate President Saraki’s Handshake During Inauguration

Representative Remi Tinubu has disclosed why she declined to shake the hand of Senate President, Bukola Saraki amid the introduction of the eighth National Assembly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

She gave the clarification amid a late meeting with The Nation.

"I had a private meeting with him [Saraki] for 60 minutes. Furthermore, I had the chance to let him know why I didn't shake his hand after my initiation as a congressperson," she said.

"I let him know the reason. I said you denied us from having a swearing-in function. I said that was the reason I was irate. I said I was furious and that was it. Furthermore, I have conversed with him a while later. That was the first occasion when I would sit with him in a meeting. I have never had the open door," she included.

Mrs Tinubu additionally talked on the late assault on her individual by partner, Senator Dino Melaye.
