Photographs: Pope Francis excursions and falls over as he touches base for Holy Mass at the Jasna Gora place of worship in Poland

Pope Francis fell over as he touched base at the Jasna Gora altar before a large number of people viewing far and wide. 

The 79-year-old Pontiff who touched base in Poland on Wednesday and will visit different religious and social areas, was strolling towards the sacred place to praise a mass at the southern Black Madonna hallowed place of Czestochowa to stamp the 1,150th commemoration of the Baptism of Poland, when he took an enormous tumble and fell.

A group of priests quickly helped him back to his feet just before the mass began.  Despite the fall, he got back to his feet and continued with the mass.
