Labourer Sentenced to Carry Two Buckets of Water Up and Down a Staircase 100 Times for Stealing

For taking a wireless esteemed at N6,000, a worker was on Monday sentenced to "convey two basins topped with water off and down a staircase 100 times," by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court, Lagos, 

The labourer,Chikwandu A., 28, was sentenced by Chief Magistrate B.O. Ope-Agbe as he conceded submitting the offense. 

She said that the convict would take in his lessons after he serve out his sentence. 

"I arrange that the convict ought to top off two cans with water and convey them here and there a staircase a 100 times," she said. 

The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, had told the court that the charged stole the mobile phone from a van. 

"The complainant saw him and raised a caution and the charged was secured," he said 

The offense contradicted Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011
